Forward and reverse displacement is one of the important measures to improve oil displacement efficiency. The forward and reverse displacement experiment can, on one hand, reduce the impact of the Jamin effect inside the core, improve the connectivity within the core, activate residual oil, and cause it to re-aggregate; on the other hand, it helps to relieve the capillary force inside the core that traps oil in large pores. Additionally, for cores with different permeability levels, switching to reverse displacement at a time when water content is low and oil saturation is high yields the best results.
