The Yongchuan shale gas field belongs to deep shale gas, located within Yongchuan District, Chongqing City, in the complex structural area of southern Sichuan Basin, the main part has a burial depth greater than 3500 meters In 2016, the Southwest Petroleum Bureau deployed the first exploratory well Yongye 1HF in this area, achieving a major exploration breakthrough, thereby discovering the Yongchuan shale gas field. Subsequently, Sinopec continued to tackle the more challenging exploration and development in the central-northern Yongchuan area, ultimately achieving the overall proven reserves of the Yongchuan shale gas field this time, with total proven geological reserves reaching 148.041 billion cubic meters.

In addition, the team innovated differentiated transformation ideas for deep shale gas and developed a strong proppant volume fracturing process, allowing the shale gas buried underground to continuously flow out along these three-dimensional channels. This greatly improves the development efficiency of deep shale gas, significantly increasing the average economic recoverable reserves per well.
